Executive: The President is indirectly elected by the Federal Parliament for a 4-year term. The Prime Minister and the Cabinet are appointed by the President with the approval of the Federal Parliament.

Legislative: Bicameral parliament consisting of the House of the People and the Upper Chamber. Members are elected for a 4-year term.

Judicial: The transitional Supreme Court is the highest court.

Foreign policy: Somalia is a member of ACP, AMF, AU, CAEU (candidate), FAO, ILO, IMF, IMO, Interpol, IOC, IOM, OIC, UN, UNESCO, UNHCR,UNIDO, UPU, WFTU (NGO's),WHO, WIPO, WMO
