Structure of Government:

ExecutivePresidency rotates among the elected presidents of the Union's 3 main islands. The President and Vice Presidents are directly elected by absolute majority popular vote for a 4-year term that is renewable. The President is both Chief of State and Head of government.

Legislative: Unicameral Assembly of the Union. Members serve 5-year terms.

Judicial: The Supreme Court and the Constitutional Court are the highest courts.

Foreign policy: The Comoros is a member of AU, FAO,  G-77, Arab League, OIC,OIF, IMF, ILO, UN, UNESCO, WHO,WTO (observer), etc

Economic Data

GDP: 657,3 million USD (World Bank est. 2013)

Main economic resources: Tourism, Fishing, vanilla, cloves, ylang-ylang (essential oil for perfume), le copra, coconuts, bananas, etc

Major Trading Partners: France, Turkey, Singapore, Pakistan, United Arab Emirates, etc

Legal System

Mixed legal system of Islamic religious law, the French civil code of 1975 and customary law.
