Executive: The President is directly elected by absolute majority popular vote for a 5-year term (renewable once only). The President appoints the Prime Minister basing himself on the results of the elections. Ministers are appointed or dismissed by the President in consultation with the Prime minister.
Legislative: Unicameral National Assembly. Members are directly elected by absolute majority popular vote and serve 5-year terms.
Judicial: The supreme Court is the highest court of the country.
Foreign policy: Cape Verde is a member of UN, AU, IOC, IMF,WHO, WTO, WIPO, UNESCO, UNHCR, ILO, Legis-PALOP, etc.
GDP: 2,1 billion USD (IMF est. 2014)
